5 steps to choosing a fun theme for your child's creative photo!

When planning a magical photoshoot for your child, choosing the perfect theme is key. Here are 5 steps to help you to select a fantasy theme that will make your child’s photo something truly enchanting.

Step 1 – Imagination

Let your imagination run wild. Think about your child’s favourite stories and dreams. Are they fascinated by unicorns, pirates, mermaids or superheroes? Encourage their imagination and involve them in choosing something they really love. After all, it’s their magical world we’re diving into!

Step 2 – Inspiration

Take some time to have a look at the Three Hearts Photography website, Facebook and Instagram pages to see some of the beautiful and magical themes we have available. This is merely a starting ground for you to choose from. I have so many more designs and themes for you to choose from. As we begin to plan your session, we will discuss what you want and I will be able to guide you in choosing the best theme for your child.

Step 3 – Colours and Rainbows!

Think about the colours your child loves and what will look good in your child’s bedroom, (or wherever you plan to display your photo). Does your child love pink, purple, blue, green? Do you want something colourful? Sometimes the theme you choose will determine the colours that will make up your photo, but there are always different elements that we can add in to ensure your photo is personalized to your child.

Step 4 – Dress the Part

Clothes and costumes are the heart and soul of any magical photo, so it’s time to dress the part. In discussion with Julie, your creative portrait photographer, we will find an outfit that will align with your chosen theme. This may be one of our costumes, a costume from home, or clothes from home that will best compliment your Creative Photo.

My top tips for choosing your outfits from home are outlined in the Welcome Guide you receive when you book your creative photo session. However, the main thing to remember, is that you choose plain solid colours for your child to wear so that they stand out from the busyness of the creative portrait.

Step 5 – Bring on the Magic!

The final step in choosing your magical theme is to talk with your photographer, Julie, about any props or special items that you want to include in your photo. This may be a special toy, a beach towel and a sand bucket or even a skateboard. It may be something we include in your photo during editing, like a butterfly, which has a special meaning to your child or family, a monkey, because your child loves everything monkeys, or anything that will make it even more special for you and your child.

Choosing a fantasy theme for your child’s creative photo, is an opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime and capture something unique and special for your child, that no-one else has.

By following these 5 steps and planning out your session with Julie, you will be ready for a photo that will transport your child to a world where dreams come true.

6 Outings your family will love this weekend

It’s time to put away the devices, turn off the screens and get outside for some fresh air and adventure!

ME: GOOGLE!!!!! Where can we take the kids this weekend?

GOOGLE: Studies have shown that spending time outside with kids is a great idea

ME: But where do I take them? Oh, never mind, I’ll just ask Three Hearts Photography ;)

I have just what you need right here!

An amazing list of ideas and adventures to get you and your family outside and exploring this weekend!

  1. Australia Gardens (Cranbourne Gardens)

Australia Gardens is located in Cranbourne and is an absolute hidden gem of Melbourne!

You willl have so much to explore and discover and the kids will have fun along the way. It is a mixture of plants, water, sculptures and fun for the whole family. If you haven’t been or even if you have, but it’s been a while, then make this one a priority and enjoy all that the gardens has for you to explore.

2. Chelsea Bicentennial Park

If you are looking for a playground that stands out from the rest, then head on over to Chelsea Bicentennial Park and see this one for yourself. With amazing slides, musical mushrooms and swings galore, the kids will have no end of fun here. Oh yeah and you can ride a cow!

3. McClelland Sculpture park

Are you looking to introduce your kiddos to some art and sculpture, without worrying if they are going to knock something over and break it? lol

Well, look no further, the McClelland Sculpture Park in Langwarrin, is full of larger-than-life sculptures and creations that you can run around, discover and explore and the best part, they are OUTSIDE!

4. Banjo Paterson Park

You probably already know that I just love Banjo Paterson Park. It’s where we do most of our family photo sessions and it is an absolutely beautiful place to take the kiddos!

Open the car boot, throw in the footy, the basketball, the scooters or the bikes, a kite, the books, the sunhats, the picnic rug and anything else you want to bring along and have an amazing time!

There is so much to do at Banjo Paterson Park and so much fun to be had.

5. alowyn gardens

During the holidays, I was lucky enough to have a couple of kid free days, Thanks Gran and Pa!

So, a friend and I decided to go to Alowyn Gardens. It was my first time there and I have to say, it was amazing! The gardens are so beautifully kept and there is so much to see and explore. Now, while we were able to spend the whole day there, just the two of us, I am not sure you will last a whole day with the kiddos, but you will certainly add in a few hours of fun and adventure in the gardens.

6. Sorrento Back Beach Rock Pools

Now, I have to admit, that I haven’t actually been to this one, but it is on my bucket list to take the kids there and explore the rock pools, so I wanted to share this one with you even though anyway.

Mamma knows south is an amazing blog/Facebook page and website that has so many ideas and adventures for you and your family to enjoy and explore, so I will defer all the real life experiences of this adventure to them. Read all about this one here at MAMMA KNOWS SOUTH - SORRENTO ROCK POOLS

and be sure to tell me all about it.

I hope you have an awesome time out exploring and having fun with your kiddos.

If you visit one of these amazing places and would love to share your adventures, then please let me know all about it. What you loved or what wasn’t so good!

But most of all, ENJOY!!!!!

Family of the Year 2022

I am so excited to announce the release of my Family of the Year Competition 2022!

outdoor family photos Lyndhurst Photographer Three Hearts Photography

7 families have been selected from our photo sessions last year, to participate in our Family of the Year Competition for 2022! The voting is running from 8pm on the 6th of February 2023, till 12noon on Friday the 10th of February 2023.

Family, friends and the general public will have the chance to vote for the family who they would love to see win this amazing title as well as a thousand dollar portrait prize from Three Hearts Photography.

I will also be randomly drawing 10 lucky voters to win a Three Hearts Photography Gift Voucher!

But Let’s meet our families…….

the Matheson family

The Matheson had a lot of fun during their family portrait session. They braved a wind that was a tad chilly, but always had a smile on their faces when it was time for photos.

This is one of their favourite photos where they played kids vs parents tug of war on the beach. Can you guess who won?

The Schembri Family

The Schembri family were all smiles as we met at Banjo Paterson Park for their family photos. In our planning and preparation the Schembri family had told me that they really wanted to capture a photo of their family together on a picnic rug, to match one they had when the kids were younger. They loved this photo! Do you?

The McCorrison Family

This family session was such a special moment to capture for this beautoful family. They wanted to commemorate their beautiful Angel Baby with a Butterfly Ceremony and I was privileged enough to be there to capture it for them. The butterfly you see sitting on their gorgeous Rainbow baby, stayed there for nearly the whole photo session. What special moments would you capture in your family photos?

The Dredge Family

Nothing but sunshine and smiles for the Dredge family photo session at Banjo Paterson Park in Lynbrook. This loving, happy family was happy to have some laughs, play some games and enable me to capture all the fun they have together as a family. Don’t you love those smiles?

The Rees Family

Can you say sunshine, funtime? It was all smiles and laughter at the beach for the Rees family photos on a beautiful early summer evening. These guys made me fall in love with white on the beach, (although I still love a bit of colour, lol). We walked along the beach, laughed on the pier and finished the night with tug of war and cartwheels. What could be more fun?

The Briski Family

A new baby is always a special time to update your family photos and the Briski Family wanted to make sure they had some beautiful studio portraits of their new family. They also wanted to include Nanna’s blanket. A very special heirloom that they had used in photos of their eldest daughter when she was a baby. I was so happy to be able to capture these special memories for them. What momento could you include in your family photos?

The Fairweather Family

It was misty spring morning, but nothing could stop the Fairweather family from capturing their family photos at Banjo Paterson Park. The girls braved the chilly weather in their gorgeous dresses, chosen by mum until it was just too chilly and time for some warm jackets. But I think that’s what makes this family photo snuggly and full of love, as you can see just how much this family cares for each other. Do you love this snuggly family photo too?

Which Family do you think should Win?

It’s all in your hands as we pass over the voting and see who will be given bragging rights to Three Hearts Photography’s Family of the Year 2022! AND win a portrait prize valued at over $1000!

But don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you, our voters! I will be drawing 10 lucky voters to win an amazing Three Hearts Photography Gift Voucher once the voting is complete!

IT’S TIME TO VOTE!
