What the hell do I wear?

What the hell do I wear?

If you're anything like me, you struggle with what to wear to walk the kids to school. Do you go with comfort or do you dress it up a little, so you feel less like a mum and more like a woman?

So, how do you decide what to wear for your Family Portrait?

Basically, it's all about Mum! I always suggest that you choose something that you feel comfortable and beautiful in. And then, when you have decided that, match everyone to your outfit.

Layers can add colour and depth to your Family Portrait. Try adding a splash of colour to a natural outfit to add that extra pop to your portrait.

When you have decided on your outfit and any accessories to go with your outfit, then take yourself to the kids rooms and choose outfits for them that will blend and match in with the colours in your outfit. Some people like to have matching outfits for their portraits and that's great. I will never tell you no, but I do suggest choosing colours that compliment each other over all one colour.

Take a look at these examples from families we have photographed this year and see how they created beautiful portraits from their outfit choices.

For Example, if your outfit is white with yellow and grey in it, then you could put dad in a similar shade of grey, and the kids in yellow.

Avoid too much pattern and get dad to wear a plain t-shirt or shirt without a large logo across the front. Too many patterns and logos can be distracting in your portraits.

Adding a pop of colour can add that extra pop to your family portraits.

Once you have chosen your Family's outfits for your Portrait Session, then lay them all out on the bed together and stand back and take a look at the combinations you have chosen. If they look awesome to you, then they will look awesome in your Family Portrait.

If you need any help in choosing your outfits, send me a pic on your phone of what you are deciding on and I will be happy to help.
