I'm not sure when it became all the rage to decorate your house with as many Christmas lights and decorations as you could, so that they could be seen from planets far far away, but it has long been one of our family's favourite traditions to go around after dark and look at the beautiful houses all full of Christmas lights and Christmas cheer.
It is something we did when we were kids. I remember piling into our Nissan Urvan with as many people as we were legally allowed to have, and making the rounds of the many houses that were so fantastically decorated.
It is a tradition that I have continued with my own children, and although they are young and it means staying up way past their bedtimes to get the full effect of the lights, and therefore suffering the next day with very grumpy children, it is something that we love doing and get so much joy from.
There are so many fantastic houses in Melbourne that put in so much time and effort and really create an amazing, magical experience for those who visit, but this year we headed to Ballarat for our Christmas Light Looking and it was great to share it with the kids Gran. We had a ball and saw so many beautiful houses, with amazing, magical decorations!
I love looking at the Christmas lights and it is my favourite Christmas Tradition. What is yours?
