We all know that Dad is usually the last one to want to have a Family Portrait taken, don’t we?!!
We don’t know exactly why, maybe something about having to dress up, smile for the camera, stay still in one spot for any length of time, interact with someone who makes funny faces and blows raspberries to make you smile, (most dads hate that, lol).
But whatever it is, we already know before we even make the booking that Dad might just be the reluctant one. So, as we approach Father’s Day, and in the days to follow, I am going to give you a few little tips that will help you to get Dad in your next Family Portrait and be happy about it. AND, you may even be able to use one or two of these tips to get him in a couple of photos on Father’s Day this weekend.
So here are 4 Easy Steps to Convince Dad To Have A Family Portrait –
#1. Bribery! – Hey, it works with the kids, why not with Dad too.
Tell them that if they have their photo taken they can go off and watch sport at the Pub for an hour or two by themselves. Find out what they want and then use it to get what you want, hehehe
#2. Choose a Mini Session for your Family Portraits
A Mini Session usually lasts around 20 minutes, maybe 30 minutes if you need a little extra time with the kids, but that’s a lot less than a full Portrait Session that can take around 2 hours. Dad’s really love the idea of Mini Sessions.
#3. It’s All About The Kids
Tell Dad that the Family Session is really all about getting some updated photos of the kids because they have changed so much and they won’t be this small forever. He doesn’t need to be in all the photos, just a few of them. Then before he knows it, he’s off the hook and he has some beautiful photos with his kids and gorgeous wife. He will be thanking you and telling you it wasn’t so bad after all. 😉
#4. Christmas Shopping for Family all Wrapped up
Well, ok, Christmas is probably not even on the radar for most Dads, but it certainly is for us mums and telling them that half the Christmas shopping could be done in a matter of a couple of hours, (less if you choose a Mini Session), has to be appealing to any Dad, especially when you tell them they won’t have to race around the day before Christmas for a present for THEIR mum. It’s all sorted in one Family Portrait Session.
We know how much Dads love their Family and when it is all finished and hanging on the wall, they are so glad they have these gorgeous photos of the ones they love the most, so they can remember them just as they are right now.
We hope that all the amazing Dads out there have an even more amazing Father’s Day and jump in the photo with their kids.
Happy Father’s Day!!!
